This post was started- according to WordPress – seven months ago. The original title was “2016 Already? Wow!” NTABlog is a little ashamed…OK, a LOT ashamed nothing has been done with it since February.
You can thank or curse Mark Shonka and his excellent blog piece on the Old Fashioneds for inspiring us to sit on our butt and write something.
In fairness to the NTABLog, we did add a new post in late February, and a LOT has happened since beginning this one. We had a draft, tryouts, a lot of rain, tryouts, a draft, more rain, Opening Day, DISD bumped us from Reverchon on Tuesdays n April only to get rained out every time (
heh, heh, heh… I mean, how unfortunate.), more rain, we returned to John Paul II, played a few games in Plano, a little more rain, procured a SWEET new field at Prestonwood Christian Academy, played on some rough fields, had a kick ass All Star Day at Dr Pepper ballpark and raised $23,600 for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, donated $500 to the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (you didn’t know about that, did you?), awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award and oh, yeah…we played 267 regular season baseball games. With playoffs and Rookie League, we’ll be at about 320 games by the middle of September. After Fall Ball, we’ll be close to 400 games. As of this writing, we’ve had two (2) forfeits and four games rained out and not made up. That’s only six (6) games out of 400 not played. Nobody in DFW plays more baseball than we do. Seasons may start sooner or last longer, but nobody offers as much on-the-field baseball as the NTABL.
And that is where our focus remains, on the field. We are always looking for ways to improve our on-field experience and the best way to do that is to tap our best resource, our people. At 477 dues paying MSBL players, our league is the largest in Texas. If you see a problem, let us know. If you have a solution to a problem, PLEASE let us know. We are always looking for quality fields, umpires, managers, accountants, schedulers, programmers and folks just willing to roll up their sleeves and help out.
We’ve still got a lot of baseball to play: Labor Day Tourney, the Dallas Open and Fall Ball are HERE. We always have fields to check, baseballs to deliver and…blog posts to publish.
